The fighter jet is a vehicle in Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas.

The fighter jet, manufactured by Lockreed Industries,[1] appears to be the main fighter aircraft utilized by the United States Air Force and the Navy in 2077, as no other contemporary fighter aircraft have yet been found in the post-War wasteland. It is armed with six machine guns built in its nose.

Several of the jets appear on board the deck of Rivet City. These planes appear to be navalized, with folding wings. In addition, a fixed wing version can be found in the Fallout 3 add-on Point Lookout at the jet crash site and several more are located within some of the derelict hangers at Adams Air Force Base in the add-on Broken Steel. One can also be seen in Fallout: New Vegas suspended from the ceiling inside the Camp McCarran terminal building.

Behind the scenesEdit

The fighter jet strongly resembles the P-80/F-80 Shooting Star and its variants, manufactured by Lockheed. However, the real-world aircraft's wings did not fold, as it was not capable of Carrier operations. It also does not appear to have an arrestor hook in game, which are needed to land on Carriers.

  1. A terminal entry in the Museum of Technology mentions that the fighter jet exhibit was sponsored by the Lockreed company
