The Hub police are the law enforcement of the Hub, headed by Sheriff Justin Greene. Most of them are simpltons who have a badge only because no one else would take the badge. They are spread throughout each district except for the Heights, where Mr. Hightower's guards have to fend for themselves. The Police Station is in the Downtown area, but if any member of the Hub Police is attacked, all others will become hostile toward you. In fact, if the police become hostile, you won't be able to leave the Hub (even if every single person is dead) without being in combat mode. Mind that defeating every member of the Hub Police is a remarkable feat; they are well armed, well armored, and well organized.
[edit]Did you know...

... that Harold is not a ghoul but a special kind of FEV mutant?

... that Vault 34 was first mentioned in the Fallout Bible?

... that Shady Sands, Khans, Jackals and Vipers all come from the same vault?

... that before the Great War the United States reformed from 50 states into 13 commonwealths?

... that the medical computer in Vault 8 can tell you about a secret for after you finish Fallout 2?

... that radroaches first appeared in Fallout Tactics?
