This is the home page of a Nukapedia project. A project is a collaboration of editors improving articles and other content related to a particular subject. For more information, see Fallout Wiki:Projects.
This project's scope encompasses a subject that does not have a definitive end. Editors are encouraged to contribute as available tasks and time permits.

The logical history project, or just history project is a project which aims to add the history of the Fallout world which coincides with our own. It will add people, places and other content that must have existed in the Fallout world as well as our own in order to give readers a short summary of what the 'thing' in question was, rather than forcing them off site - this can be annoying if one only wants a quick summary.

ScopeEdit

The scope of this project is very much laid out above, but is effectively to make this wiki more complete by having short real-life summary pages on certain subjects in order that the people who want a brief summary can stay on site and have one, rather than having to go to Wikipedia, and provide a link to Wikipedia if people want further reading so that they don't have to trawl through those pages for a simple explanation. With that said, pay close attention to the guidelines.

GuidelinesEdit

The most important rule for this project is to be logical, and be able to present a case for your subject to have a summary page. If something is in Fallout, then it's history is not necessarily guaranteed the same as ours. For example, Hoover Dam must be named after Herbert Hoover as it is called Hoover Dam. The Second Continental Congress must have existed as it is the answer of one of the quiz questions in Fallout 3 in the National Archives.

Example pages:
King John of England - provable due to Magna Carta
Herbert Hoover - provable due to Hoover Dam
John Wilkes Booth - would be unprovable just due to Abraham Lincoln, as there would be no proof he was assassinated in the Fallout world if it weren't for the John Wilkes Booth wanted poster
Example of one that wouldn't be acceptable:
Manhattan Project - although it is likely that this existed in the Fallout world as it was before the 1950s, it is not referenced anywhere in the games, and so there is absolutely no proof this was the origin of nuclear weapons and the like in Fallout.

It is for this reason on assumption that I ask before a page be made a participant comes to me and leaves a message on my talk page with the title: History Case - (Subject) and then leave a case as to why that must have existed. I'm not asking this as a megalomaniac, but rather so that we have less issues with people who don't think the pages should be created. I have the go ahead from Jspoel, and as such if you present a case and I give the go ahead, if there are any issues I'll fight your battle for you because it was me who will have made the executive decision. Often there will be a string of pages that must be created due to logical jumps, and as such please cover them in the original case. Any pages created without this permission will have their author chased up to give a case or it will be deleted after a day.
