The bug page revamp project is a project that aims to rewrite all bug pages and exploit pages to ensure that they are all in line with the policies and guidelines, particularly the bug policy. This is more of a blitz/mini-project/whatever you will, but the lighter workload must still be taken seriously. Each page must be thoroughly looked over and rewritten.

Scope[]

Any article about the bugs or exploits in a particular game or DLC falls under the scope of this project.

Guidelines[]

Any participant in this project must ensure that all pages are written academically. As the bug page template says, first-person and forum-style speech in particular are strictly prohibited. More specific guidelines can be found on the bug policy page, but they key points that need to be addressed in these articles are as follows:

  • All bugs pages should have the {{Bugintro|game=(appropriate game abbreviation)}} template at the top of the page. The same goes for exploit pages with the {{Exploitintro|game=(appropriate game abbreviation)}}
  • All bugs except for clipping are notable. Repeat, clipping bugs are not notable. All other bugs are considered notable.
  • Bugs/exploits that can be linked to a single entity belong on that entity's page only, e.g. a bug that causes Moira Brown to attack her mercenary guard should be on the Moira Brown page and not the main bug page. Any bug that cannot be linked to a single entity shall be linked on the main bug page.
  • Exploits should not be listed on bugs pages. They shall be moved to the appropriate exploits page.
  • Exploits about a particular article should be briefly mentioned in the article and then explained in detail on the appropriate exploits page.
  • Most bugs/exploits should be believed, but all NEW bugs must receive a {{Verify|~~~~~}} tag so that the bugs can be tested for validity.
  • The {{Platforms}} template should only be used on bug/exploit pages when there are no headers for specific platforms. Ex: If there is an Xbox bugs header, all Xbox-only bugs on the page should be moved to that section and have the redundant platforms tag removed. For bugs that occur on multiple platforms, they should be moved under the header for multi-platform bugs and keep the platform tags.
  • The {{Platforms needed}} template should be placed on any bug that is not already under a platform header.
  • Even though Fallout Wiki does not cover the use of third-party mods, bug-fixes and/or workarounds are appropriate to list and link to. Acceptable sites to link to are ModDB and the Nexus sites. Please check the link to assure that it works and that the bug-fix is appropriate for listing.
  • Fixes and workarounds should be listed in an indented bullet below the bug they fix. It is acceptable as well to link to an appropriate section of the console commands article page for PC bugs.

Appropriate game bug page layout[]

  • Add-on-Specific Bugs
    • This section should link to the individual Add-on Specific bug pages. Bugs that are applicable to the add-ons should not appear in the main game bug page.
  • General advice and notes
    • This section should be composed of tips to go about handling bugs, and generally how they happen.
  • Weapon Mods
  • Using the console
  • Crashing, freezing and other hardware- or software-related issues
  • Menu-, HUD-, inventory-, and radio-related bugs
  • Physics engine glitches
  • Graphics glitches
  • Effect bug
  • Custom button-mapping bugs
  • Non-player character-specific bugs
    • Should link you to the Characters Page
  • Quest-specific bugs
    • Should link the user to the Quests Page
  • Location-specific bugs
    • Should link the user to the Locations Page
  • Gameplay bugs
    • Xbox 360 Only Bugs
    • PS3 Only Bugs
    • PC Only Bugs

Add-on specific bug pages layout[]

Add-on Specific pages should provide a detailed list of bugs that are present only in the DLC, and do not overlap with characters/quests/items/locations. Add-on Specific bug pages should appear in the following format:
  • Multi-platform
  • PC only
  • PS3 only
  • Xbox 360 only
