The F. Scott Key Trail & Campground is a camping ground located south of Girdershade. There isn't much more than a couple park benches and a small tow-camper, but is of note because it is one of the places where the the Schematics - Deathclaw Gauntlet can be found. You might cross it en route to the Dunwich Building in the extreme South-West of the Capital Wasteland. It is also notable because it is a reliable place to come across, and defeat, a Deathclaw. There are many rock outcroppings to sit atop, plinking away.

[edit] In and around the camp

Around the edges of the camp it should be noted that there are a few Mole rats and Yao Guai, as well as two Deathclaws. It would be recommended to take an abundance of health, ammo, and a good weapon before traveling to the camp. There is also a handy bed in the trailer that the player can rest on. The Deathclaw Gauntlet schematics are on top of this bed.

As mentioned before there is not a lot in the camp. What can be seen though are many human remains, most of which are bones. There is even a rather rare sight of a skeleton of an infant on the ground by the picnic table right to the East of the trailer with the Deathclaw Gauntlet schematics (next to the scenic overlook sign). This suggests the Deathclaw had killed them awhile ago or they are remains from the nuclear blast (which is most likely, as they are charred). Other than that there are only bits of clutter such as plates, cooking pots, pans and tin cans.

A wastelander lives in the camper van, where the Deathclaw Gauntlet Schematics are located. He will be attacked by the nearby Deathclaw, and will almost certainly be killed by it, unless the player helps. Even then, the wastelander has a very low chance of survival as he only carries a low-level Melee Weapon. Saving him unlocks no dialogue choices, and he'll still say "I have nothing to say to you".

There is a small patch of green grass on the outside of the camp. Whether or not this is intentional is unknown, but it would be one of the few if not only places in the game outside of Oasis where green vegetation can be found. A few steps to the north lie remains of a small house. The house is hidden behind some rock and is lying in a hole.

• Inside a small camper is the Deathclaw Gauntlet schematics, useful to anyone using the Unarmed skill.
• One Duck and Cover! skill book can be found in the camp. It is close to the camper on top of a picnic table in the picnic area.
• There are also various food items on the grills themselves, across from the trailer and three Squirrels on a Stick, on a seperate grill immediatly north of the trailer.

The name is a reference to Francis Scott Key, the man who wrote the lyrics to the "Star Spangled Banner."
