FilmThe following is based on the canceled Fallout movie and has not been confirmed by canon sources.

The Elders are a faction within Vault 13 responsible for government within the vault. They were set to appear in the canceled Fallout film.

BackgroundEdit

In the film, it is these elders that decide to send out the recon team,[2][3] and are, until Techy's death, provided with a live video feed of its progress.[4] After this, they are in the dark.[5] Eventually, when the heroes return, and the Overseer unilaterally blocks their re-admission,[6] the Elders rise up at the behest of the Vault Supervisor, arming the populace in a social revolution and the simultaneous defence of their vault.[7]

In the ensuing battle, the two semi-named Elders, the Overseer and Hero's father, both perish, leaving five elders whose fates were unknown.[8] Regardless, and leadership they had remaining seems to have relinquished their power to Hero, as it is he who leads the vault to their new life.[9]

StructureEdit

The Elders meet in a private upper level chamber of Vault 13, to discuss matters pertaining to the Vaults future. It consists of First-Gen group of seven survivors (including Hero's father) from pre-vault days before the Great War some 50 years ago (2003). The Elders were selected to lead the vault from inception to scheduled opening in about 10 years (c.2063). Of this group, the Overseer is designated as the 'Head Elder' in the film treatment.[10]

NotesEdit

  • It is apparent at several points in the film that Hero's father was grooming him to become an elder someday too.[11][12]
  • If this is the case, the fact that the vault was to open in ten years suggests that the Elders were planning to lead the community after they left the vault.

AppearancesEdit

The Elders were to appear in the canceled Fallout film by Interplay Films.
