Dog

From The Vault

Dog
variations: Dog
Raider Guard Dog
Scavenger's Dog
Vicious Dog
Wild Dog
location: All around the Wastes

In Fallout world, Dogs are little different from the ones found in our world, although they have become feral and vicious in order to survive in the harsh environment of the Wasteland. Even so, just as they have in ages past, many dogs have remained faithful and beloved companions to men and women. Arguably, the most famous of these post-nuclear canines was Dogmeat, the companion of the Vault Dweller.

Though most breeds of dogs remain largely un-mutated by radiation exposure, some modified or mutant varieties do exist. The centaurs are mutants created by mixing dog, human and brahmin DNA in FEV vats. Dogs were also subject to Enclave experiments, which resulted in cyberdogs.

The following is based on Fallout Tactics and some details might contradict canon.

Dogs in Fallout Tactics are a common sight in Wasteland. They used by many factions, like Brotherhood of Steel, raiders, and even super mutants, as loyal guardians and attacking force. There are groups of wild dogs, that could be encountered in Macomb and during the travels in the Wasteland.

The following is based on Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel and has not been confirmed by canon sources.

Dogs in Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel are used by many inhabitants of the wastes. Several different types of this animal could be seen.
