Dad's wasteland outfit is a piece of clothing in Fallout 3.

Characteristics

Dad's wasteland outfit is the Vault jumpsuit James is wearing just after exiting the Tranquility Lane Tranquility lounger in Vault 112. It is identical to the Vault 101 utility jumpsuit except that the suit has black boots instead of sneakers, a black undershirt opposed to a white one and a few more stains.

It can be repaired with Vault jumpsuits, the Vault 101 utility jumpsuit and the modified utility jumpsuit.

Location

One way to get this item is to reverse-pickpocket James either while he is talking with Doctor Li, or while he is standing in the Jefferson Memorial Rotunda.

Another way to get this outfit is by standing directly in front of the airlock door in the Memorial Rotunda right after James' death, as in being right in front of his body. It can be accessed by slowly looking around until "Search Dad" comes into view. This only works if his body has fallen close to the door. It can also be done with Colonel Autumn, who at the time will have 10mm rounds, his uniform, and his pistol.

Also, if quick enough, the Lone Wanderer can pass through the airlock door to obtain everyone's stuff in the room, but then make the escape impossible, meaning this method is useless without console commands.

Notes

  • Despite Dad's wasteland outfit being almost visualy identical to a Vault 101 utility jumpsuit, and carrying the same bonuses, it weighs an astounding 20 lbs. - a little less than a suit of combat armor, and as much as recon armor.
  • The outfit exists in the game files for Fallout: New Vegas as legacy content.

Bugs

Playstation 3Playstation 3Playstation 3 This piece of clothing has a tendency to spin around in the air slowly when picked up and held. It will continue to spin until it is dropped. This can be particularly frustrating if trying to display it in the Megaton house. [verified]
