The Confederate States of America (CSA or C.S.A.), commonly referred to as the Confederacy, was an unrecognized, pre-War, secessionist country existing from 1861-65. It was originally formed by seven slave states in the Lower South region of the United States whose regional economy was mostly dependent upon agriculture, particularly cotton, and a plantation system of production that largely relied upon slave labor.
In Point Lookout, various references to the Confederacy and the American Civil War can be found. Confederate hats are still very common and the natural biogas that is released from the ground comes from the bodies of Confederate soldiers, whose bodies were dumped in mass graves during the Civil War.
