Repair the fog condensers before the fog creatures return.
Fast travelling or entering into one of the settlements in Far Harbor, the Sole Survivor may be approached by a settler with their weapon armed. They then will inform the Sole Survivor that the settlement's fog condensers are broken and must be repaired immediately. The Sole Survivor can then agree to help them or turn them down.
If one wishes to help them, a quest marker will appear showing the number of fog condensers that are yet to be fixed. The settler will then try to fix them, or the player can elect to fix them personally (albeit a risky strategy since no one will be able to defend the settlers). Another quest marker will appear asking to defend the settlement. Because the condensers are down, the fog will overwhelm the settlement and hordes of creatures and irradiated animals will continuously attack the settlement. The creatures attacking will vary but much stronger enemies can spawn at high levels (ie. enraged fog crawlers, gulper devourers, dusky yao guais, and glowing wolves can spawn all at the same time at high levels). In this case, a settlement can easily be overwhelmed if the settlement is not equipped with strong defences.
The hordes of enemies will continuously spawn until all fog condensers have been fixed. If at least one settler dies for any reason while this mission is active, the quest will fail. The quest ends once all the fog condensers are fixed and the enemies have stopped spawning.
- This radiant quest can easily be one of the most difficult settlement quests in the game as it requires both battling very strong enemies and at the same time protecting all the settlers. Enemies can spawn at different points in the settlement, prompting the player to exercise vigilance.
- A good strategy for this is to build a perimeter wall that encompasses all of the settlement's fog condensers to prevent enemies from attacking the settler as they fix them.
