Can I do something for you? Or... to you?

Clover is an enslaved woman held captive in Paradise Falls in 2277. She can be purchased from Eulogy Jones to become an enslaved companion in Fallout 3.

Background[]

Captured a few months ago by Paradise Falls slavers, Clover and Crimson have been systematically broken by torture and abuse, until they became obedient to their enslavers. Eulogy claimed both as his personal slaves, using them for sex, personal protection, and as stress relief, abusing both to no end.[Non-game 1][Non-game 2] Unlike Crimson, who managed to retain some of her will despite the slavers' torture, Clover succumbed and her original personality was replaced by blind devotion and love to Eulogy (or whoever happens to own her). She will kill, sleep, and do everything else she's ordered to do.[1]

The utter devotion to Eulogy Jones, or "daddy", as she refers to him, is extreme.[2] She refuses to even talk to other men without Eulogy's permission, forced to have him speak for her.[3][4] She does not even entertain the idea of owning items personally, considering them property of whomever owns her (and notably, only Eulogy is the "daddy", anyone else is a "lover").[5] She is typically found following Eulogy like a shadow, about ten steps behind him,[6] ready to fulfill his wishes at a moment's notice. Eulogy actually expects her to anticipate his desires before he even speaks of them, and subjects her to verbal abuse whenever she fails to do so or even simply falls behind while following him. Due to the abuse she suffered, she is desperate for Eulogy's attention and whenever he's displeased, she immediately apologizes profusely, begging him to let her make up for it and assuming the blame.[7]

A corollary of her situation is that she is extremely jealous of Jones, particularly when Crimson is concerned. She regularly nags Eulogy to sell her off, so that he can be alone with her. Jones typically berates her, reminding Clover that Crimson is to be left alone, unless he says otherwise.[2] In a rare example of disobedience, Clover rarely complies, and picks fights with her fellow prisoner, seeing her as a competitor for Eulogy's dubious "affections". Constant suggestions to find a buyer and reminders that "daddy's gotten tired" of her get on Crimson's nerves, who hates Jones and would prefer for Clover to just leave her alone.[8] She tried repeteadly to talk some sense into Clover, to no avail. She constantly hits the brick wall of "daddy's favorite", who's unable to realize that Jones does not care about either of them and will sell both of them off the moment a good offer is made.[9]

Ironically, Eulogy's supposed favorite is the one he's looking to sell off, for a thousand caps.[1] When sold, Clover doesn't skip a beat and becomes devoted to her new "lover".[10] The jealousy remains,[11] though Clover's conditioning doesn't entirely change, and she keeps thinking about Eulogy.[12][13] She can also show surprising defiance: If the Lone Wanderer attempts to force her to activate the Purifier, then she will refuse outright.[14]

Interactions overview[]

This character is a permanent companion.

This character is involved in quests.
Severed
This character drops a finger upon death (Lawbringer).

Companion[]

  • If the Lone Wanderer's Karma is evil enough, they may purchase Clover from Eulogy Jones for 1,000 caps (or 500 caps with a Barter skill of 50).
  • Clover has the slaver class instead of the slave class. The slaver class' tag skills are Barter, Melee Weapons and Small Guns. Additionally, she actually has the greatest carrying capacity out of human followers (accounting for her default equipment) and the second greatest amount of hit points (after Cross; non-human followers like Fawkes will quickly outpace her hit point gain by level). While she states a preference for melee combat, she will use either with equal ease.[15][16]
  • If dismissed, Clover returns to Eulogy's Pad in Paradise Falls (even if Eulogy Jones and everyone in Paradise Falls is dead). She can be re-hired at any time, regardless of Karma, without having to pay an additional fee.
  • Clover's slave collar adds 3 points to her DR and its condition does not deteriorate.

Quests[]

  • Rescue from Paradise: When trying to distract Forty, Clover can be asked if she will go talk to him, but she will decline.
  • Clover will refuse to start the purifier in Take it Back!, she suggests that the Lone Wanderer "find themselves another guinea pig."[17]

Other interactions[]

  • If all the slavers in Paradise Falls are dead while she is present and not yet a companion, she will turn hostile and will not be recruitable in the future.
  • She will turn against the Lone Wanderer if she catches them stealing too many times while in Paradise Falls.
  • Picking the gate at the Temple of the Union will turn Clover hostile.
  • Clover will kill Crimson if the Lone Wanderer starts killing slavers in a stealthy way.

Notable quotes[]

Appearances[]

Clover appears in Fallout 3 and in Fallout Shelter Online.

Bugs[]

Xbox 360Xbox 360 Trading certain headgear to her will cause her to wear it, but when the player removes it from her inventory, it will become a "default" piece of gear. Other headgear may be given to her to replace it, and she will wear it as normal, but as soon as they remove said headgear from her, she will revert to the previous headgear. It has been confirmed with the stormchaser hat and eyeglasses. [verified]

  • She reverts after an hour or so in-game, or restarting the game.
