Cloning in biotechnology refers to processes used to create copies of DNA fragments (molecular cloning), cells (cell cloning), or organisms.
At least two of the Vault-Tec vaults were equipped with cloning technology. In Vault City, cloning is used to create replacement limbs and other organs for transplants. In Vault 108, another cloning lab was included. A vault inhabitant known simply by his first name of Gary was cloned by the scientists repeatably, yet every clone became increasingly hostile to all other vault inhabitants.
The Nuka-Cola Corporation also operated a cloning facility underneath the Welcome Center in Nuka-World, to the protests of animal activist group A.F.A.D.. Following the Great War, Dr. McDermot attempted to create a powerful, yet tameable creature that would be able to defend the facility. He was driven out after accidentally creating the Gatorclaw, which now populate the Safari Adventure area of the park.
