The Cliff's Edge Hotel is a location on the Island in 2287. Among the rubble is the hidden entrance to Vault 118, where the Sole Survivor may be directed during the Brain Dead quest.

Background[]

Primarily intended as a resort hotel for tourists visiting the Island before the Great War, the location was deemed suitable for Vault-Tec's purposes, and Vault 118 was subsequently built beneath the establishment. The Vault was originally intended to host an experiment regarding class warfare, but was sealed before the lower rungs of the social ladder could be admitted. The luxurious hotel then fell into disrepair and eventually became infested with feral ghouls, as the captive inhabitants in the Vault descended into madness.

In 2287, a trapper explored the site in search of the entrance to the Vault, but was killed by ghouls after setting up camp in the hotel.[1]

Layout[]

The hotel consists of four floors and a basement. An elevator in the basement guarded by two ceiling-mounted turrets provides the only access to Vault 118.

At the main reception desk on the first floor, a terminal can be accessed to read several pre-War entries. On the third floor is the restaurant, where a makeshift camp consists of a tent, a sleeping bag, an extinguished campfire, and a dead trapper, whose traps can be found throughout the area.

Outside the hotel in the courtyard is the inaccessible main entrance to the Vault, where a car is parked on top of the closed cog-like elevator.

Notable loot[]

  • Vault-Tec lunchbox - On the first floor, in an Advanced-locked storage closet behind the reception desk.
  • Trapper's note - On the third floor, in the tent in the dead trapper's camp.

Appearances[]

The Cliff's Edge Hotel appears only in the Fallout 4 add-on Far Harbor.

Bugs[]

PCPC Playstation 4Playstation 4 Xbox OneXbox One It is possible to become stuck inside the elevator permanently when leaving the Vault to return to the hotel. Options to resolve the issue include reloading a previous save, attempting fast travel then waiting for a few minutes while in the elevator, pressing the elevator call button with the elevator doors still open followed by closing the doors and again pressing the call button and proceeding as normal, or (on PC) using the console command coc. Hearing elevator music may be an indication that you are no longer trapped.[verified]
