This is A Quick Fix. I mean that's the name of our shop. Paulie and mine that is. My name is Cindy. Cindy Cantelli.

Cindy Cantelli is the proprietor of A Quick Fix in 2277.

Background[]

Cindy and her husband Paulie own A Quick Fix, the drug dispensary in the Rivet City market. The shop has a reputation for having a good stock.[1] However, it would be doing better if she could trust Paulie enough to be left unattended, let alone close the shop by himself.[2] She's had to get Seagrave Holmes to make a secure storage unit for her, but Paulie stole the key and she has to get a new one.[3] This is because Paulie is a chem addict who constantly steals from the shop to fuel his own addictions. Cindy has basically come to run the shop herself.[4] At this point their marriage is almost nonexistent; they barely talk and have little in common. She, and others, have tried to talk some sense into him, but it hasn't worked, and the strain of his constant chem use and neglect has caused her to give up on him.[5][6][7][8][9][10] Not that he is aware of how bad things are, both with his addiction and his marriage.[11][Non-game 1][Non-game 2] Should he die for whatever reason she will initially be relieved,[12] later to realize that she does still care for him.[13]

She has since developed a crush on Bannon, her neighbor in the market. She ignores Bannon's faults as an egotistical blowhard[14] and hasn't gotten up the courage to approach him about it.[15][Non-game 2] Instead, she has been trying to get closer to him when they attend church and at mealtimes. He hasn't noticed and doesn't reciprocate her feelings.[16][17][5] This is a point of conversation between her and gossip partner Vera Weatherly, who encourages her to divorce Paulie, but also to give up on Bannon, given his ego.[5] Likewise, Cindy will point out that Vera always dodges Seagrave Holmes' advances,[18] using both her and Angela Staley as excuses.[19]

Cindy tends to get nervous and talk too fast when she meets new people.[20][21][22] Although she has access to a wide variety of addictive substances, she never does drugs herself.[12][7] This isn't because she has some sort of moral quandary over the issue. Instead, she has a "convenient morality"; that is to say, if it's good for her, then it's fine.[Non-game 2]

For example, despite her firsthand awareness of the evils of addiction, she has no problem disseminating chems with no medical benefit. She also doesn't particularly care that her husband tries to convince others (Mei Wong and Ted Strayer) to take Psycho, a particularly dangerous chem, with him.[23][24] However, she is not fully immoral. She does warn her customers about her products' side effects.[25] She also recognizes when people would be better suited without her chems and will direct them elsewhere when necessary instead of hawking her wares.[26] Finally, she gently tries to steer Angela Staley, her friend, away from chems, and is always surprised that Angela would browse her shop at all.[27] In fact, she would gladly further Angela's relationship with Diego if she could, and she doesn't seem to consider chems as the solution (though she does think they would help rekindle her own marriage).[28][29] She will congratulate Angela on her marriage to Diego if things turn out well for them, and will be invited to their wedding, to both parties' satisfaction.[30][31][32]

However, Cindy has less empathy for the upper deck, particularly Henry and Christie Young, whose happy marriage and general pompousness irritates her. She makes her disdain for them known anytime she talks to them, calling out Henry's attitude of moral superiority[33] and Christie's refusal to clean the hangar deck hallways (though the people who live there don't clean up after themselves either).[34] She does not extend her disdain to their daughter C.J., who she is perfectly happy to see.[35] Cindy prefers the lower deck denizenry through and through; her preferred place to drink is the Muddy Rudder, where Belle Bonny's drinks are watered down but cheap,[36] and she takes her meals at Gary's Galley, where she can converse with (or even poke fun at) her fellow merchants.[37][38]

Daily schedule[]

Cindy can be found at A Quick Fix during the market's business hours. She eats her lunch in the market and when she isn't doing this she can be found sleeping in her bed.

Cindy Cantelli: "Well, I don't really know, to tell the truth. How does any city get started, really? But I've heard Bannon talk about how he was responsible for its success, so I'd ask him about it."
    (Cindy Cantelli's dialogue)
  15. Bannon: "Must you always sit next to me in church?"

  18. Cindy Cantelli: "Hey, Vera. Still dodging old Seagrave? He's got eyes for you."

(Rivet City conversations; Cindy Cantelli's and Vera Weatherly's dialogue)
  19. Vera Weatherly: "Hello Seagrave."
Seagrave Holmes: "Vera! Wonderful to see you. You look lovely today."

"Stop! You're embarrassing me, but thank you. I should go."
(Rivet City conversations; Vera Weatherly's and Seagrave Holmes' dialogue) Note: The separated lines are alternates. The former is if Cindy Cantelli and Angela Staley are both alive.
  20. Cindy Cantelli: "This is A Quick Fix. I mean that's the name of our shop. Paulie and mine that is. My name is Cindy. Cindy Cantelli."
The Lone Wanderer: "Whoa! Slow down, lady. You're freaking me out."
Cindy Cantelli: "Sorry. I get nervous easily. When I'm nervous, I'm fast. I mean, I talk. Fast that is. See, I'm doing it again."
    (Cindy Cantelli's dialogue)
  21. The Lone Wanderer: "I like you. You're funny. I assume you sell Chems?"
Cindy Cantelli: "Yeah. Paulie and I. Our shop is in the market. Boy, that sounded dumb! Where else would our shop be? Anyway, thanks. For being nice, that is."
(Cindy Cantelli's dialogue) Note: This line is spoken should she be someplace other then her shop A Quick Fix.
  22. Cindy Cantelli: "This is A Quick Fix. I mean that's the name of our shop. Paulie and mine that is. My name is Cindy. Cindy Cantelli."
The Lone Wanderer: "Relax. I'm just looking around."
Cindy Cantelli: "Oh. Okay. Well let me know if you want anything. To buy that is."
(Cindy Cantelli's dialogue) Note: This line is spoken should she be at her shop A Quick Fix.
  23. Bugged Paulie Cantelli: "Ted, Teddy! I got some great Psycho. It's totally wow. You oughta come down to my shop and buy some. We could shoot it together."
Ted Strayer: "Dude, that sounds sweet. But, uh...I'm kinda broke. Soon as I get some caps, though, I'm there with ya."
(Rivet City conversations; Paulie Cantelli's and Ted Strayer's dialogue) Note: Ted's response incorrectly targets Harkness. Bugged
  24. Paulie Cantelli: "It's the colors, man. The colors are amazing. You really gotta try Psycho."
Mei Wong: "Look, I keep telling you. I'm not into that. Psycho rots your brain. Just leave me alone."
(Rivet City conversations; Paulie Cantelli's and Mei Wong's dialogue)
  25. Trinnie: "I've got the headache from hell. Do you have anything that will help?"
Cindy Cantelli: "Anything I might give you would come with a side effect. Why don't you go to Doctor Preston?"
Cindy Cantelli: "Anything I might give you would come with a side effect. It's too bad Doctor Preston isn't with us anymore."
(Rivet City conversations; Trinnie's and Cindy Cantelli's dialogue) Note: The separated lines are alternates depending on whether Doctor Preston is alive or dead.
  26. Cindy Cantelli: "See anything you like, Mei?"
Mei Wong: "Do you have anything to calm my nerves? Paulie keeps trying to get me to try Psycho, but that stuff rots your brain."
Cindy Cantelli: "I've got nothing like that here. Why don't you go have a drink in the Muddy Rudder? That should do it."
(Rivet City conversations; Cindy Cantelli's and Mei Wong's dialogue)
  27. Cindy Cantelli: "Angela, what brings you into A Quick Fix?"
Angela Staley: "I'm just looking. I'm sure you don't have anything that would make me 18 any sooner."
(Rivet City conversations; Cindy Cantelli's and Angela Staley's dialogue) Note: Cindy's line has an Emotion prompt of Surprised 50.
  28. The Lone Wanderer: "I heard Angela Staley has a crush on Diego."
Cindy Cantelli: "The poor dear. I wish there was something I could do to help her. That boy ought to just give her a tumble. It would be good for both of them."
    (Cindy Cantelli's dialogue)
  29. Angela Staley: "Hello, Mrs. Cantelli. Do you have anything that would make a guy be like crazy in love? You know, make him really horny?"
Cindy Cantelli: "I don't think you need a love potion, dear. Besides, none of these will do that. If they did, Paulie would...never mind."
Cindy Cantelli: "I don't think you need a love potion, dear. Besides, none of these will do that."
(Rivet City conversations; Angela Staley's and Cindy Cantelli's dialogue) Note: Cindy's first line is used if Paulie is alive, and the second if Paulie is dead.
  30. Angela Staley: "I'm so excited about getting married. You got my invitation, didn't you? You've got to come."
Cindy Cantelli: "Yes, I got the invitation. I wouldn't miss you and Diego's wedding for anything."
(Rivet City conversations; Angela Staley's and Cindy Cantelli's dialogue)
  31. Cindy Cantelli: "Your little girl is getting married! How exciting! You must be so proud."
Gary Staley: "I am. Diego is a good boy. They will make a happy couple."
(Rivet City conversations; Cindy Cantelli's and Gary Staley's dialogue)
  32. Cindy Cantelli: "I heard you're getting married! Are you excited? Is Diego nervous?"
Angela Staley: "Of course I'm excited. Diego is a wreck though. My dad might have to help him up the aisle instead of me."
(Rivet City conversations; Cindy Cantelli's and Angela Staley's dialogue)
  33. Cindy Cantelli: "Come to spend some of your hard earned caps, Henry? I'm afraid I'm all out of moral superiority."
Henry Young: "Take your sarcasm somewhere else, Cindy. It's not my fault you married an addict and I have a family."
Henry Young: "Have you no sense of decency? I just want something to dull the memory. I can't believe she's dead."
(Rivet City conversations; Cindy Cantelli's and Henry Young's dialogue) Note: Henry's second line is played if either Christie or C.J. Young are dead (though C.J., as a child, cannot die).
  34. Cindy Cantelli: "Christie. I noticed you never clean up the hangar deck. Just the upper deck. What, we aren't good enough for you?"
Christie Young: "If you people would take better care of your own spaces, it wouldn't be a problem."
(Rivet City conversations; Cindy Cantelli's and Christie Young's dialogue)
  35. Cindy Cantelli: "Hello, C.J."
    C.J. Young: "Hello, Mrs. Cantelli."
(Rivet City conversations; Cindy Cantelli's and C.J. Young's dialogue)
  36. The Lone Wanderer: "Where can I get a stiff drink?"
Cindy Cantelli: "The Muddy Rudder. Belle waters down the liquor, but it's cheap. It's on the lower deck."
    (Cindy Cantelli's dialogue)
  37. Cindy Cantelli: "Shrapnel, I thought you shot your own food?"
Shrapnel: "You need a new joke, Cindy. I've only heard that one about a million times."
(Rivet City conversations; Cindy Cantelli's and Shrapnel's dialogue)
  38. Cindy Cantelli: "Hi, Flak. I hear the Iguana on a Stick is good today."
Flak: "Really? I heard it was tough and too salty. I think I'll have Mirelurk Cakes instead."
(Rivet City conversations; Cindy Cantelli's and Flak's dialogue)
  39. The Lone Wanderer: "Where can I find Ted Strayer?"
Cindy Cantelli: "Have you tried the common room? That's where he sleeps. Otherwise...hmmm. You can probably find him on the flight deck some days, if it isn't raining. He usually goes to the Muddy Rudder on Sundays. Beyond that, who knows."
    (Preston's Bannon's, Belle Bonny's, Cindy Cantelli's dialogue)
  40. Paulie Cantelli: "Looking for a fix?"
    (Paulie Cantelli's dialogue)
  41. Bugged Seagrave Holmes: "Cindy, don't forget to bring by anything interesting you might find while cleaning the deck. It might be worth some caps to you."
(Seagrave Holmes' dialogue) Note: Christie Young does not have any response assigned to this conversation; furthermore, Seagrave misnames her as "Cindy" in the prompt. This line is intended to only occur while Christie Young is eating at Gary's Galley (between 7 to 9 a.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. daily). Bugged
