Chlorpromazine is a type of anti-anxiety medication. Vault-Tec Medical Protocols recommend that a vault physician prescribe Chlorpromazine in low dosages for Vault residents suffering from Vault Depressive Syndrome, or VDS. One of the concerns that physicians have with prescribing the medication is that the patient may have to take Chlorpromazine for a lifetime. This medication is manufactured and stored in Vault-Tec Vaults.

In the 2270's, Vault 101's vault physician James prescribed this medication for Freddie Gomez who suffers from VDS. The Lone Wanderer learns of Freddie's affliction from reading his file in the Medical Data System on August 3, 2274.

Chlorpromazine is a real medication. This medication is an anti-psychotic. It is prescribed to individuals who suffer from schizophrenia and bipolar disorders. An assumption is that like another anti-psychotic, Seroquel, that in the 21st century Chlorpromazine is given in low dosages for treatment of depression.

The game uses the terms 'anti-anxiety' and 'anti-depressant' interchangeably.
