The Charles View Amphitheater is a location in the Esplanade neighborhood of Boston in 2287.

Background[]

This pre-War entertainment venue is the base of operations for the cult known as the Pillars of the Community. This small religious movement consists of initiates and missionaries who have little to say to the Sole Survivor. The cult leader, Brother Thomas, however, will try to convince the Sole Survivor to join their group, making grand statements about improving the lives of everyone in the Commonwealth.[1] If one agrees to join the group, Thomas will take the player character into the office behind the amphitheater and ask them to forfeit all of their worldly possessions to the Pillars of the Community.

If one questions this, Thomas will reveal his true intentions as a con man and threaten the player character's life. A speech check may be attempted to threaten Thomas; if successful, the player character will be able to keep all of their possessions while also avoiding a fight. If the player character refuses Thomas's proposition, he and all of his followers will immediately become hostile and attack the player character.

If the player character kills Brother Thomas and his followers, Thomas will respawn later (at least for the quest Emogene Takes a Lover), and a speech check option to threaten him will have the Sole Survivor say that they "killed the last guy running this scam."

Layout[]

The main stage has a walled-off rear section with a fair amount of owned loot. There's also an area behind the amphitheater with an office and an Advanced-locked bedroom.

Inhabitants[]

Notable loot[]

  • Mini nuke - On the west side of the stage behind the wall and under the bed.
  • Amphitheater key - Pickpocketed or looted from Brother Thomas during the quest Emogene Takes a Lover. Opens the bedroom door.
  • Road goggles - The cultists have a chance of wearing them.

Notes[]

  • A short distance west of the amphitheater is a footbridge occupied by a super mutant armed with a missile launcher. There is a small chance that he may fire at you and/or the nearby NPCs, killing them.
  • There is a chance that a Brotherhood Of Steel Vertibird may crash nearby and potentially kill those on stage.
  • If all the members of the Pillars of the Community are killed, raiders may later spawn at the amphitheater.
  • All the cultists of the same gender look exactly the same, only varying in their clothing.
  • When at this location, companions make comments, which are activated near the eastern end of the stage.
