I started to think that the most of the "loc" (world) maps are useless. I mean there is usually description in the article (North of this South-east of that...) and the map images usually don't show anything else than icon and name. Maybe we should replace those "loc" maps with really local maps showing entrances to buildings etc. and with POIs marked additionally (something like those maps of Rivet City). What do you think? I use them a lot. They show the relation to other icons and landmarks when you are out walking in the capital wasteland, and since the world map already have all landmarks you can use those to home in on the location you wanted.
In some places (say Hollowed-out rock) a local map is more useful, and in some places you will want both to be able to find your way around. A typical place where a map marker location isn't very useful is in a DC inner district (say The Mall), and I didn't put them there either.
But I actually don't find the local maps very useful, I've started to make aerial photo maps instead now. (Megaton, Springvale)
Since at least one player find the map marker images useful (me), let them stay. If you don't want to make any, that's fine too.

I think they should stay too. Ausir 15:06, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
OK, you've got the point. And BTW nice job with those aerial photos. RDGST 15:35, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
