This item is used as a crafting component of ammunition at reloading benches. Combine one .45-70 Gov't casing, lead, rifle powder, and one large rifle primer to make one .45-70 Gov't round.
Locations[]
- A casing can be acquired after firing a weapon chambered in .45-70 about 35% of the time and a 20% chance of retrieving a casing if using SWC rounds.
- Enemies that use a brush gun, hunting revolver or a Ranger Sequoia can have up to five casings on them when they die. It is possible to see Great Khans wielding hunting revolvers, and NCR Veteran Rangers carry the Ranger Sequoia or brush gun. After the Courier reaches level 21, Legionary assassins may carry the brush gun as well.
- There are 25 casings for .45-70 Gov't ammunition in each .45-70 case box.
- Occasionally, some traveling merchants will "sell" .45-70 Gov't casings, but they will always be for free. Likewise, selling casings to a merchant will not yield any caps.
