Cafe of Broken Dreams
From The Vault
| ||||||||
The Cafe of Broken Dreams is a special encounter in Fallout 2. It's a small diner out in the middle of the Wasteland containing all the characters the player has used to play - but not finish - the game and other they didn't was included, for example as a male black skin or a girl with orange hair for Vault Dweller.
Also, there Tandi and Set from Fallout 1, and as a special treat, Dogmeat of Fallout 1 fame can be found here.
The cafe is a copy of Maltese Falcon in the Hub of Fallout 1.
[edit] Note
- If you take all of your armor off (Down to Vault Jumpsuit), you can get Dogmeat as a companion.
- If you try to kill Dogmeat, an NPC in leather armor, named Mel, appears and attacks you. This is a reference to the movie Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior and the principal actor, Mel Gibson.
[edit] Behind the scenes
The name of the cafe is a reference to Gottfried Helnwein's painting Boulevard of Broken Dreams, itself a visual quotation of Edward Hopper's Nighthawks.
