Fallout 3
This item is useful only as Rock-It Launcher ammunition. Because it weighs 1 pound, it is not as useful as other sources of ammunition which have zero weight. Butter knives can be found in containers and houses around the Wasteland. There are two types of butter knives: one long and thin, and another which has a wider cutting edge.
Fallout: New Vegas
Previously useless, with the Honest Hearts add-on the butter knife can now be converted into scrap metal at a workbench, in combination with a fork, a metal spoon, and a tin plate.
