The exterior isn't very notable. There's only a radio antenna and its generator (the latter's switch can be flipped to emit Signal Sierra Romeo). Quite a few bent metal girders on the site suggest a typical mutant outpost.
A couple of super mutants and possibly a centaur can be found wandering the area. If the player visits this area after escaping the Jefferson Memorial through to the Citadel (during The Waters of Life) there may be an encounter with 2 Vertibirds: one will be shot down by a missile and the other escapes. The culprit, a super mutant with a missile launcher, can be seen near the broadcast relay.
North, below the cliffs the broadcast tower is built upon, in the alleyway that faces east and cuts between the rocks you will find the entrance to the drainage chamber. Inside the player will find collapsed sewage tunnels and a door. In this room are some weapon crafting components and two computer terminals. One is broken, the other requires an encryption key (located on the desk). The terminal will open the secure hatch in the floor, unveiling the source of Signal Sierra Romeo.
In the chamber below the door, there is a ham radio along with the remains of two Chinese remnant spies.
- Two pre-War books in the room with the computer terminals.
- A mini nuke and a copy of the Chinese Army: Special Ops Training Manual in the sub-level with the two Chinese remnant spies.
- A Chinese commando hat and two Chinese jumpsuits are found on the dead soldiers.
- An encryption key - on a desk in the drainage chamber, for accessing the terminal that opens the hatch.
Broadcast tower KT8 appears only in Fallout 3.
