You're new, aren't you? Are you here from the Erie Stretch? The Capital Wasteland? Ronto? Where's home?

Brand is an enslaved person found in the Pitt's Mill in the Fallout 3 add-on The Pitt.

Background[]

Brand has taken the opportunity to supply the Pitt raiders with information about the other slaves, up to and including information about any secret plans the slaves are making. In exchange, he receives extra benefits and bonuses, and is allowed to rest more during the work detail.[1] Because of this, he is not well liked by the other slaves, and has gained a reputation for being a snitch.[Non-game 1] As such, the slaves often warn each other and others not to trust him.[2]

In interaction with Brand, the Lone Wanderer can choose to reveal the secrets of those involved in the uprising, including Wernher,[3] Midea,[4] Marco,[5] and even themselves.[6][7] In the case of Marco, Brand will be overjoyed to learn information with which he can cause Marco’s demise by revealing it to the Pitt raiders, as Marco is claimed to have repeatedly wronged him in the past.[5] Marco himself views Brand as a “little rodent.”[8]

Quests[]

  • Slave Snitch: By speaking to him, one may reveal several secrets to him, including telling him about the riot Wernher is organizing. He gives two stimpaks and 25 XP per piece of information. Telling Brand any "info" gives negative Karma.

Effects of player's actions[]

  • Telling him about Marco will result in Marco's death.
  • Once the revolt starts, he may be killed by the other slaves, or survive by hiding.

Inventory[]

Apparel Weapon Other items On death
Worn slave outfit Steel saw

Notes[]

  • Other slaves constantly warn the Lone Wanderer not to trust Brand.
  • If the slave revolt has ended and he has survived he will return to his post as if nothing happened and the player character can still snitch on the other slaves despite the revolt already having happened (possibly related to not snitching ever before completing the add-on).

Notable quotes[]

Appearances[]

Brand appears only in the Fallout 3 add-on The Pitt.

Bugs[]

  • PCPC Xbox 360Xbox 360 Sometimes, he doesn't appear at all in the Mill. This is triggered if the Wanderer both buys slaves from Ramsey (even if killing him afterward) and speaks to Prosper. [verified]
  • PCPC Sometimes he will run into the steelyard during the revolt and stay at the top of the smokestack for the rest of the game. There, he is considered "friendly" by the trogs, except for the fledglings. [verified]

If so, go squeal to Brand. That little rodent will be happy to hear what you have to say. Now, get the fuck out of my face. I got work to do."

Non-game

  1. Fallout 3 Official Game Guide Game of the Year Edition p.79: "Brand:
Hanging around near the Mill's Ammo Press, Brand is a gaunt-looking character, even for a Pitt Slave. He isn't well-liked, even by the other Pitt Slaves. However, he does have something to barter (Stimpaks) if you reveal information on various aspects of your quests. Beware if you do though; the repercussions could prove lethal for those loyal to Wernher's cause.""
