The overpass is a single piece of the overpass that has remarkably been able to stand by itself. Gunners that have taken over the location seem to have been able to carve it out into a settlement based around, and on top of the overpass.
A single shack contains an elevator that lifts the Sole Survivor to the top of the overpass. There, a shack and another lift can be found bringing you to the adjacent overpass, giving you a great view of Nuka-World. On the other side, you are met by a few more Gunners and an assaultron. Two of the three Gunners have power armor suits and the other wields a Fat Man. Toward the end of the overpass lays the last shack of the settlement. Inside, a Gunner terminal can be found.
The settlement is being used as a base of operations for Gunners. They were sent to explore the western areas of The Commonwealth. Stumbling upon the Nuka-World transit center, Gunners decided to hike through the mountains instead of taking the transit which they thought were a trap. The hike, being harder than anticipated, was made worse by them losing communications with their headquarters. They first set up a base of operations at the overpass and are now waiting for reinforcements that are usually sent out in situations like these. Before the situation got worse, a recon team was sent off to a trading post rumored to be within Nuka-World. After checking the trading post off the list, along with Bradberton and the Kiddie Kingdom for reasons ranging from giant raider encampments to radiation and ghouls, they finally send a recon team to the Nuka-Cola bottling plant. Sergeant Lanier accompanied them and after being dispatched for a day, the scout team started seeing glowing mirelurks. Gunners tried to draw them out, but they were too tough. A runner was sent back to the Gunner HQ, where they currently wait for them to return with reinforcements.
Two power armor frames can be obtained by shooting the fusion core while the Gunners wear them.
If alerted by combat with sentries guarding the elevator on the ground, the human Gunner atop the section of the overpass accessible by it may occasionally walk off the edge and plunge to their death while trying to investigate.
