The ultimate refinement of the sniper's art, the Bozar is a scoped, accurate, light machine gun with an ammunition capacity of thirty .223/5.56mm rounds. It delivers phenomenal firepower with great precision and can easily pierce the strongest of defenses. Though somewhat finicky and prone to jamming if not kept scrupulously clean and in good repair, its many good qualities more than make up for its extra maintenance requirements.
The Bozar and the light support weapon are the only two Big Guns to use .223 FMJ ammunition, which is a great advantage since this type of ammunition is very common. In addition to using the same ammunition they also fill the same burst-fire-only role, so one would be used instead of the other. The difference between the two is that the Bozar is more powerful but, as a drawback, uses more ammunition per burst.
So the Bozar is more effective for larger, more armored opponents, while the light support weapon would lack the overkill the Bozar would provide on weaker enemies in order to save ammunition. It is one of the more powerful weapons in the game because it does not seem to be affected by damage resistance that much, making it capable of killing highly armored opponents such as Enclave soldiers easily.
During the development of Fallout 2, the Bozar was supposed to be a sniper rifle rather than an automatic heavy support weapon with a scope, but a mistake was committed during the attribution of the stats and they were kept like that, making the Bozar an atypical weapon.
The Bozar was planned to be included in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky as an easter egg, along with the .223 pistol and generic .223 ammunition, but only remains partially implemented in the game's resources.
