[edit] Usage

  • Bottlecap Mines are constructable by the player, using the Schematics - Bottlecap Mine, a Lunchbox, 10 Caps, a Sensor Module and a Cherry Bomb.
  • Bottlecap Mines are of the same sort as regular landmines, but with a bigger warning attached, and a far more powerful explosion. One Bottlecap Mine will kill almost any NPC in the game, including Deathclaws, while a regular frag mine will have much less damage. Bottlecap mines have a wider radius of explosion.
  • When you set a Bottlecap Mine, it cannot be set off by yourself or any permanent companion you may be walking with, but almost all other NPCs will set it off.
  • Like normal Frag Mines, the Bottlecap Mine will become live and cause instant death after it is reverse-pickpocketed onto an enemy.
  • Bottlecap mines take a bit longer to arm and drop than normal mines.

[edit] Notes

  • Bottlecap Mines weigh only one-sixth as much as the sum of their components.

[edit] Locations

  • They can also be found on nearly every workbench, oftentimes owned by the proprietor of the shop the bench is located in.
  • One on the workbench if you purchase one for your house.
  • Three or four can be found in the Super-Duper Mart.
  • The only hostile bottlecap mine planted by an enemy is in Fairfax Ruins.

[edit] Appearances

  • The Bottlecap Mine appears only in Fallout 3

[edit] Behind the scenes

  • The Vault Tec lunch box that the mine is made from is identical to the metal lunchbox you receive with the Collector's Edition of Fallout 3.

[edit] Bugs

  • Occasionally, the Bottlecap Mine schematic will disappear from your build options at the workbench. Cause unknown.
  • It is possible to duplicate Bottlecap Mines (see bugs section of frag grenade.)
