A Bottlecap Mine is a craftable landmine that does five times the damage of a standard Frag Mine.
Bottlecap Mines are constructable by the player, using the Schematics - Bottlecap Mine, a Lunchbox, 10 Caps, a Sensor Module and a Cherry Bomb. Like other landmines, they need to be armed and placed to be used. Unlike other mines, they are larger, have a bigger warning, and make a much larger explosion. They also, accordingly, take a bit longer to arm and drop. Their explosive power is such that one will kill almost any normal NPC in the game, including Deathclaws.
Like normal Frag Mines, the Bottlecap Mine can be reverse-pickpocketed onto an enemy to kill them, though it is perhaps an unwise and unnecessary idea considering their explosive radius.
- Bottlecap Mines weigh only one-sixth as much as the sum of their components.
[edit] Locations
- A single Bottlecap Mine can be found on nearly every workbench in the game with a few exceptions. This applies to the purchasable workbench for your house. In shops and other NPC-owned locations, taking it will usually be considered stealing.
- Three or four can be found in the Super-Duper Mart.
- The only hostile Bottlecap Mine is in Fairfax Ruins. Naturally, even at base damage it is fully capable of killing most players instantly unless disarmed or avoided.
[edit] Appearances
[edit] Behind the scenes
- The Vault Tec lunchbox that the mine is made from is identical to the metal lunchbox you receive with the Collector's Edition of Fallout 3.
- Occasionally, the Bottlecap Mine schematic will disappear from your build options at the workbench. Cause unknown.
- It is possible to duplicate Bottlecap Mines (see bugs section of frag grenade.)
