    Fallout Friday Polls are in!

    AUG 11, 2017 - AUG 18, 2017

    • A woman is killed after a man drives his vehicle through protesters during a clash in Charlottesville, Virginia, between white supremacists and various opposing groups; in response, anti-Confederacy groups have begun a large push to remove or tear down Confederate symbols. Trump notes that he is sad to see the monuments being torn down, as "a great country should learn from its history and correct its flaws" rather than "forgetting its history". Republican-Democrat tensions are high as expected.
    • An ISIS terrorist drives his van through a crowd of pedestrians in Barcelona, Spain, killing 13 and injuring at least 50 more. Trump condemned the attack and noted that the U.S. would do whatever necessary to help Spain after the attack.

You might hear an advertisement for something, and you'll think, "Huh, great idea!" which was what I thought when I heard (the first time, at least) about the GMF...which stands for Gulfport Music Festival. Its been around for a while, at least to my knowledge. After the 20th advertisement, I began to get irritated at the comercials, and now, after what seems to be the 500th, I'm utterly tired of hearing about the damned thing. I don't want to hear about it anymore. Enough! And worse is that I won't get rest from the blasted comercials yet: the festival takes place on the first weekend in October. I still have another month and a half to hear about it! Arghh!

In the movie The Wizard of Oz had ruby slippers that Dorothy clacks together. However, the book that was made into the film (don't remember the author's name) had silver glitter slippers. The color was changed because the film execs were concerned that the silver wouldn't show up as good as another color...like red.

    • Tensions heat up between the U.S. and North Korea; NK stated it was interested in nuking Guam (a US territory). Trump responded that if NK continued its threats and made them real, the US would send "fire and fury, the likes of which the world has never seen before".

I've been ... uh ... "dissasembling" pomagranates the last couple of days, and I'll tell you, if you don't know how to do it, it can be a pain in the ass. The rind is tough, and you need to be carefull not to cut yourself or gouge the table with the knife when you cut them open. Worse, looking up on the internet will grant you five dozen and one ways of disecting the fruit, and that may or may not acutally work for you. I found the easiest way was to slice off the bottom and top, then cut a sliver in the remaining rind and then it just cracks open like a watermelon. I also found out that pomagranate juice has the unfortunate side effect of staining your shirt (if its not grey) and your fingers a weird grey-purple.

I read somewhere that Chinese used to (I don't know if they do it anymore) use pomagranate peels to tan leather.

I guess that my fingers will be quite well preserved, then.

Have you ever kept a friendship secret from someone else?

Welcome everyone to the game formerly known as “Fallout Apprentice“Nukapedia’s Next GOTY”

This is your chance to show off your game design skills. You don’t need to code, or even be able to to draw. What is important is ideas, and being able to communicate those ideas. Each week we’re going to set you a challenge to write about a section of your idea for the next great Fallout game.

Well be releasing one challenge every month. The first one is an open challenge anyone can submit to. We’ll pick some of these to go into our main game and the 3 who get the most points during the main game will enter the grand final.

Your opening pitch is going to be the the first thing your player is going to experience, the intro just as read as Ron Perlman in Fallout 1/2/Tactics/3/NV. You’ll need to wet our appetite so much that we’re not going to want to play any other game than your game. You should provide us with a full script, and either images to use in your slideshow, or if you can’t find th…

    Fallout Friday Polls are here.

The Wiki wants your opinions - leave a comment to explain your poll choices!

As many of you now know, SaintPain has passed away. As of the writing of this poll, exact causes are unknown, but he had unfortunately been having health issues in recent years, which partly caused his drop in activity recently. As a veteran, his remains were moved from the VA hospital by an honor guard.

SaintPain was one of our wiki's best contributors - at nearly 14,000 edits, including many, many images, he still holds (and most certainly earns) a spot in the top 20 contributors here. He is responsible for much of this wiki's visual coverage of Fallout 3 and New Vegas, and for that we owe him a great deal.

I thank the Lord for the time SP was able to spend on this earth with us. Now he shall be moving on, and we pray for his soul and his family. SaintPain, you will be missed. Maybe not everyone got along with you perfectly, but the wisdom you shared with us - whether it be your curio…

Mom and dad were quite surprised when they learned that I'd had a good friend that they'd never knew of. They were even more blown away that I'd known him for four or five years. They would have tried to "regulate" the relationship, so I never told them about it. In fact, there's alot of things that I don't tell them, like these polls. They don't know. They just barely found out that I post my fictions (they knew I was writing them, however) online, and have been doing so (at that time, at least) for a year.

It takes a century (100 years) for an inch of topsoil to be created from leaves, sticks, and detritus. You can imagine, then, all the potential tousands of years get scraped away when they grade the earth until its orange clay.

Do you believe in old "folk remedies"?

    • Third was you've never heard of folk remedies before. There are whole books out there. Some are good for a laugh, while others are actually usefull.
    • Second was heck no! Yes, I'll admit that some are good for nothing other t…

    25,000 articles

    August 1, 2017 by 12345678abcdefg

Nearly seven years ago we celebrated our 10,000th article, General Oliver's cap. Today Nukapedia's 25,000 article, Olympia was made by me meaning that we have made roughly 2,200 articles a year. We also have 52,567 images on this wikia (that's about 2 images per article made), 87,193 discussion posts and a total of 2,760,748 page edits on this wiki since it was set up in the spring of 2005.

Congratulations to everyone on this wikia who made a page that contributed to this number of articles over the last 12 years. I'd also like to point out that next month, on September 30, Fallout will be 20 years old.
