Legendary Saturday Polls, 351st Edition

"Temblor" is an earthquake. Its basically a Spanish word, meaning "trembling".

And so it has come to pass, without barely a tremble: I'm quitting the old Polls. The long and once glorious line of Saturday Polls hosts ends with me, and I'm done. No one reads these things anymore, so I've been writing and writing faithfully since everyone went off to other platforms of communication, and no one gave a damn. Last year, when NomadicNom nominated me for Social User, I likened it to the old editor of the failing small town newspaper, and I was right. And so now the newspaper has failed, because no one read it anymore, and cared far more about other websites and socializing avenues.

I wish it could go back to the old days, but it simply cannot be. And last but not least, the jerks on Discord! I owe a special shout out to you, whoever sewer rats you were. I was trying my darndest to keep these things alive despite no audience, and all you could do was nit pick that I had no Fallout questions, …

Legendary Saturday Polls, 350th Edition

Here I am again, on a format no one gives a damn about! >=/ And in case you want my vote, it was "the ugly person with a wonderful personality" which should be everyone's pick. If we base everything on looks, the world has gone down a hole of no return. And I mean it. Looks have never been my priority. They've never made the short list of things i want in someone; they barely make the "long list". Sure, looks are great and all, but that seems to be the Number One thing people look for anymore. Personality and intelligence are far more important, as they should universally be.

What is the meaning of the word "temblor"?

  • A type of voice tone
  • A rank of knight (think Medival days)
  • A type of drinking glass
  • An earthquake

Do you ever role play your own character ideas in Fallout games?

  • Only what is already there (Lone Wanderer, The Courier, etc.)
  • Sure damn do, all the time
  • Sometimes, when I come up with a good one
  • I just play and don't bother with any of that.

THAT'S ALL THIS WEEK!!

Legendary Saturday Polls, 349th Edition

"Horology" is the science of measuring time, and also (according to the dictionary) the making of devices that measure time. I wonder if the origin of the word is connected in some way to the word "horoscope"? They both begin with "horo", for example. Horo might mean time, in some language...

I read an article today where a guy thought it was perfectly fine to ask girls on dating sites about what their "measurements" (aka, bust size, waist size, etc.) were. I was blown away by how shallow that was. Are you really going to only date people who only fit your "physical requirements"? You think that the first thing that comes out of your mouth is "What's your bra size?" is perfectly acceptable and women won't be offended? I have known women that were just as shallow, what-a-guy's-appearance-should-be-wise, and I was just as blown away by their shallowness, too. What the hell has this world come to?

In accordance to today's topic, that's what the question is this week:
Would you prefer to be wi…

Legendary Saturday Polls, 348th Edition

"Forty winks" is a term for taking a short nap. Why? You don't wink in your sleep! "Forty snores" might have been a better term.

What is the science of "horology"?

  • Studying works of the horror genre
  • Studying ice and its composition and creation
  • Studying heat and its effects in the extremes
  • Studying the measuring of time

Just for kicks, how would you celebrate Earth Day in the Fallout universe?

  • Try to find a green place (no, not full of radiation) and chill
  • Find whatever plants you could and nurture them
  • Plant more things... any things, be they fungi or mutated plants, at least they're vegetation
  • Weep over the dead trees left over 200 years after the War
  • Something else

Legendary Saturday Polls, 347th Edition

A "glee club" is a group of people who sing short choral pieces. Beats me why they called it a glee club, but that's what the word is. I certainly didn't make it up. Personally, however, I think there should actually be "glee clubs" but in the fake answers I gave last week: people who spread good will and help in their communities. Who the hell said you only have to wait until the blasted "holidays" to make other people feel good? Huh? Why can't we do it all year, not just November through December?

What does the term "forty winks" mean?

  • A short nap
  • Being extra flirty
  • Leaving, but you'll be back quickly
  • Trying to get that stubborn speck of dust out of your eye

Ever get tired of Fallout questions?

  • Never
  • Sometimes
  • Always
  • Depends if they've been repeated too much

Legendary Saturday Polls, 346th Edition

"Unbosom" means to "reveal one's inner thoughts and feelings". You'd think the correct answer would have been the first choice (to reject a close associate), considering the Facebook "unfriending" thing and that there's the term "bosom buddies" (very close friends), but it isn't. Its revealing what you think. Also, am I the only one who thinks TikTok is the new Facebook? All you used to hear about was Fakebook - oh, I'm sorry, Facebook - but now the only platform you hear about with frequency is TikTok. Meh. I don't like "social media".

What is a "glee club"?

  • A group of people that focus on spreading good cheer (and not only on "the holidays")
  • A group of people that do good deeds for their community
  • A children's club meant for learning life basics
  • A group of people organized to sing short choral pieces

Should the next Fallout game be for Google's gaming platform of Stadia?

  • Yes
  • No
  • Man, I don't know
  • I could really care less

Legendary Saturday Polls, 345th Edition

"Simonizing" is highly polishing something, with or without wax. If you work in the auto industry or love cars, you would probably know that. I know I didn't, even though I am a classic car lover myself. I had a dream recently that I had a sweet, 50's type car with the huge fins on the back. It was a mint green color. I wish I had a car like that in real life.

What is the action of the word "unbosom"?

  • Rejecting a close associate
  • Closing up an open garment
  • Revealing your inner thoughts and feelings
  • Not speaking when you most desire to (keeping your mouth shut)

Should Fallout: New Vegas have had Small Guns and Big Guns as separate skill sets like Fallout 3, rather than the merged together Guns one?

  • Yes, it was confusing
  • No, it made perfect sense
  • I never used Guns, so it didn't matter
  • Maybe it could have been tweaked a little
  • I never played Fallout: New Vegas
