The blackbox recording is a holotape in the Fallout 3 add-on Point Lookout.

Location[]

The holotape can be found at the jet crash site, in a "black box". It holds an audio flight record of the pilot at the moment the Great War began in earnest, and documents his inability to raise any air traffic controllers on radio in the immediate aftermath and his crash landing in Point Lookout's back country.

Transcript[]

Notes[]

  • The pilot in the blackbox recording uses aviation terms to describe their situation:
    • "Prepping to pull the loud handle" means the pilot was about to use his ejection seat.
    • "Low on state" means they were low on fuel.
    • "State one plus one zero to splash" is fuel left for 1 hour, 10 minutes until they would be forced to crash land.
    • An "INS pinger" is a device which broadcasts the inertial navigation system position of a crash landing.
    • "Eight cherubs", "five cherubs" means they were descending from 800 feet to 500 feet.
    • "Three green" means that the landing gear correctly deployed.
    • "Four lights" means that all four glide path lights were in view and showing the correct color.
