The Bison Steve Hotel is a building located in Primm in 2281.

Layout

Exterior

The semi-broken "El Diablo"[1] roller coaster track wraps around the building. Three escaped convicts have taken positions along these tracks, and 2-4 more are on the ground outside of the hotel.

Interior

There are three floors, all of which are inhabited by convicts. There is an elevator that can be repaired with a Repair skill of 35. Once repaired, it will take you to the second floor from the first, and vice versa. You must walk up a crumbling platform/ceiling on the second floor to access the third floor. A stairwell on the first floor also provides second-floor access, as does a door after a section of the roller coaster track outside.

Notable loot

Outside
  • It is possible to climb up the broken track that hangs on the left side of the main entrance. Almost directly above the main door is a pair of binoculars.
Ground floor

This floor is accessed from the front of the building.

  • Tales of a Junktown Jerky Vendor - Northeast room (there is a sign beside it that reads "Gift Shop") lying on the ground against a Hard locked floor safe behind the cash registers.
  • Lucky - A unique revolver in the northeast room (gift shop) just beyond the entrance, inside a Hard (75) locked floor safe behind the cash registers. Also includes a few stimpaks and ammunition.
  • A Sunset Sarsaparilla star bottle cap is on a sofa's end table next to a bottle (the side table which is opposite the elevator).
  • Incinerator - Drops from the escaped convict leader in the main room, along with various ammunition.
Second floor

This floor can be accessed via the roller coaster outside, a stairwell from the first floor or by repairing the elevator on the first floor.

  • Numerous Psycho and Med-X in a room past a locked door at the end of the corridor, on a desk with a suitcase, and in the bathroom.
Third floor

This floor can only be reached via one of the second floor rooms featuring a collapsed ceiling, which forms a ramp that can be scaled with jumps. It can be reached from the collapsed room where the collapsed floor faces the 'wrong' direction by precise jumping.

  • A worn key can found on one of the convicts' bodies. It opens a gun cabinet at the top of one of the two ramps leading up to the floor.

Notes

  • It is possible to get to the highest point of the roller coaster by following the track from behind the hotel or using the door on the second floor of the hotel. There is no loot here, however it makes a for a good scenic overlook (or sniper vantage point).
  • It is possible to get on the roof of the hotel but there is nothing there other than the sign and a roller coaster car on the lower roof.
  • There are Aid Packs behind the intact sign.

Appearances

The Bison Steve Hotel appears only in Fallout: New Vegas.

Behind the scenes

  • Its name, style, and the roller coaster built in front of the hotel is a reference to Buffalo Bill's Hotel and Casino (and its famous roller coaster Desperado), in Primm, Nevada.
  • El Diablo is Spanish for "the Devil".

Bugs

  • Xbox 360Xbox 360 Playstation 3Playstation 3Playstation 3 After visiting the second floor for the first time, all convict bodies will disappear including on the third floor since it is the same cell. Loot whatever you want before leaving.
  • PCPC If you completely clear the first floor of the building and then leave without going to the upper floors at all, and finish My Kind of Town with any choice of sheriff, you may on returning find all convicts on the second and third floors dead, their bodies scattered over the rooms and corridors. They can then be picked clean with no interference. You may also be met by a NCR trooper walking down one of the corridors and out of the hotel; the trooper is not named and will only give a stock response to inquiries (for instance, that he'd hoped there would be more gambling). This hints that the NCR moved into Bison Steve's after the player cleared the first floor and killed the convicts on the second and third floors. (The convicts on the roller coaster track outside remain alive.)
