Birthday Cake

From The Vault

The Lone Wanderer's Birthday cake. Not sure if it is for a boy or girl. Amata must have forgotten.

The Birthday Cake is a food item used for celebrating a person's birthday party. This item is a white cake decorated with icing and a carefully counted number of candles. Each candle represents a year in a person's life. The person shares the cake with party guests. A birthday cake is baked in a kitchen and is prepared for slicing at a party's venue. Birthday cakes are consumed in the Vault-Tec Vaults.

[edit] Vault 101

On July 13, 2268, a birthday cake is placed on a counter in the Cafeteria. This cake is baked for the Lone Wanderer's tenth birthday party. After they arrive, the robot Andy announces that it will slice the cake. Despite Amata Almodovar's objections, Andy slices the cake resulting in a spectacular mess. Andy apologizes saying, "I am mortified about the cake mishap. Simply mortified." Later, Andy wishes the Lone Wanderer a happy birthday and would offer a slice of cake if not for the cake mishap.

[edit] Game Mechanics

The destruction of the cake triggers an event where Butch DeLoria confronts the Lone Wanderer over a sweetroll. The Lone Wanderer can hand over the sweetroll to Butch, can spit on the sweetroll disgusting Butch who refuses the pastry, or can initiate a fight with Butch by insulting his mother. Or, the Lone Wanderer can avoid the conflict by eating the sweetroll.

Note: The Sweetroll Scenario has been a staple of Bethesda's Elder Scrolls character generation quizzes since the Arena.
