Bighorner steak is a consumable item in Fallout: New Vegas.

Characteristics

This item is made at a campfire. It requires: Bighorner meat (1).

It requires a Survival skill of 50.

Notes

Bighorner steaks are a replacement for Alcohol and Buffout as a Strength enhancing item with no risk of Addiction. After it's cooked, Bighorner Meat weighs .80, so it is one fifth less heavy than a bottle of alcohol(although Buffout obviously edges it on weight, being weightless), and it also has a gradual health recovery effect, which both alcohol and Buffout lack. At higher levels of Survival the strength boost increases to +2 then +3 when you reach 100 Survival Skill.

Brahmin steak and Molerat Stew have a similar strength boost to Bighorner steak but Bighorner steak is more filling and does not need any extra ingredients to be cooked. However, Brahmin steak heals better than Bighorner steak, and two portions of Brahmin steak can be made out of one piece of Brahmin meat, whereas Bighorner meat to Bighorner steak is a 1:1 ratio. Brahmin steak also requires a lower level in Survival to be made(35 as opposed to 50 for Bighorner steak). Ultimately, Bighorner steak is a better investment, since not only is it simpler to cook than Brahmin steak, Bighorners are also more plentiful in the Mojave Wasteland than Brahmin, since they like to gather in large numbers in the wild. Herds of Bighorners can be found east of Nipton and north of the Follower's Outpost near Camp Golf. There is also a large number of them in Spring Mt. Ranch State Park, north of Goodsprings and near Red Rock Canyon.==See also==
