The Atom Cats is a minor faction dedicated to usage of power armor. They seem to reference the mid-1950s Greasers, with leather outfits and a hot rod-themed paint job for their power armor. They are often pressured by Gunners and raiders trying to steal their suits.

One of the named members Duke can be seen roaming throughout the wasteland, and upon dialogue marks the Atom Cats garage on the map.

It is unknown as to why the faction started or where they sourced the large number of power armor suits, though it is likely at least some were retrieved from a military cargo barge half-sunk outside their garage. It is also likely that they found them the same way the Sole Survivor does, simply scattered throughout the game map. It is known that they have roaming scavengers that visit Atom Cats Garage from time to time, roughly every other day these random scavengers can be seen walking around at the Atom Cats garage.

These scavengers will sell the Atom Cats the armor they find for some amount of a rewards of caps. There is a large supply of T-60 power armor that is bought from the scavengers, also there's a random and unsteady amounts of T-45 and T-51 types coming into the garage from the scavengers. X-01 power armor is rarely found and brought to the Atom Cats though, it's not completely unheard of here (1% chance per reset cycle). Due to the steady supply of the T-60 power armor parts this is the standard armor type used by the Atom Cats. One of the explanations for how the Atom Cats sourced the scavengers work to get the suits is with the use of advertising Eyebots, due to eyebots being seen at the garage every now and again.

Zeke states that he single-handedly slew a pack of feral ghouls once to claim the garage. He then assembled a group and showed them "the way of cool". One member is mentioned to be deceased, Aimin' Andy, who was responsible for the "rockin tunes" now played in the garage.[1]

Interactions with the player characterEdit

The Atom Cats offer a set of power armor for purchase, as well as membership upon completion of a quest to repair the pump at the nearby Warwick homestead and assistance defending against a Gunner attack.

  • The Atom Cats will refer to the Sole Survivor as "Jack" which they seem to use in a way similar to "Dude", not as a nickname.
  • The Atom Cats' outfit can be purchased from a merchant far South of Drumlin Diner even before any interaction with the group.
  • Duke can be found wandering far from the Atom Cats garage, traveling to a single abandoned suit of power armor (most likely Roxy's power armor suit, as its the only Atom Cats member that does not have a suit near her). He can also be interacted with, telling to "Check out the Atom Cats". This may be an explanation as to how they got several suits of power armor.
  • The fact that the Atom Cats take their power armor so seriously may be in reference to the fact that certain groups of greasers from 1950s-60s America took particular stock in their cars, often customizing them and giving them new paint jobs, just as the Atom Cats do in game.
  • Sturges is a friend of some of the Atom Cats, according to his terminal entry in Quincy.

The Atom Cats appear only in Fallout 4.
