[edit] Background

Argyle was born before the Great War and first met Dashwood in 2241, when the adventurer stole his girlfriend. However, despite the misunderstanding, they became good friends.

If radio dramas inspired by their adventures hosted by Galaxy News Radio are to be believed, Argyle was a very frank, untrusting individual constantly exasperated by his master's recklessness and how easily he fell for women. Nevertheless, he was very loyal, refusing to abandon him and always saving him from any dire situations, no matter how much force was required.

Argyle was a master of Unarmed combat, practicing an undisclosed style of Martial Arts, being so skilled he could rip out an opponent's heart, or kill a mirelurk with his bare hands. He apparently liked to collect martial arts memorabilia as he carried a Vault Boy Bobblehead of Vault Boy practicing Martial Arts. He was also a gifted shot although he very rarely used his gun, a 10mm Pistol. He was a huge fan of the Shady Sands Shuffle maneuver.

The final adventure with Dashwood came when Dashwood was seduced by Penelope Chase into revealing to her the secret underground village of Rockopolis that Dashwood and Argyle were charged with keeping secret. Dashwood, ever easily controlled by dames, took her to it where she revealed she was in fact, a Slaver double agent for Paradise Falls. Before she could kill Dashwood, Argyle ripped out her heart with an attack of his dubbed the "Eagle Claw". Unfortunately, it was too late for either Argyle or Dashwood to stop the slavers from attacking the village, and they were separated in all the confusion.

Should the player stumble across Rockopolis, Argyle's corpse can be found. This information can then be given to Dashwood, much to the ex-adventurer's sorrow. See A Manhandled Manservant.

  • "I always knew this broad was heartless. Get it boss? Heartless?" (After ripping Penelope Chase's heart out.)"
  • "Ah, the good ol' Shady Sands Shuffle, sure brings me back." (After placing a live grenade in a Super Mutant's pocket.)

[edit] Notes

  • On the PC version, you can revive Argyle by the console command (resurrect), but you can only say, "I have to go now".
  • Argyle is a possible reference to Argyle Goolsby, the bassist from the band Blitzkid, who bases their image heavily upon zombies.
  • Argyle may also be reference to "martial art kicking Asian sidekicks" in vein of Kato (from Green Hornet) or Wing (from Crimson Avenger) who used to be popular during the beginning of the 40's radio serial fiction and comic books.

[edit] Bugs

  • Argyle's body might disappear after installing the Xbox 360 patch. (confirmed)
