Way we figure it, if traitors think we're too harsh in following orders, we're probably doing something right.

Defender Anne Marie Morgan is a soldier of the Brotherhood of Steel Outcasts, stationed at Fort Independence in Fallout 3.[Non-game 1]

Due to her location, she may be attacked and killed by random enemies as she patrols the area around the fort. In this case, she respawns after every 24-48 in-game hours, or sometimes, after each visit.

Background[]

Posted on the perimeter of the fort alongside Rococo Rockfowl, Defender Morgan is a tough soldier who does not take her duties lightly. She is a close friend of Protector Henry Casdin, the leader of the Outcasts, and is fiercely loyal to their cause.[Non-game 1] When not on guard duty, she runs special ops for the Outcasts together with Rockfowl, in particular against the raiders infesting the Fairfax ruins next door to the fort.[1]

Most wastelanders approaching the Outcasts' base will quickly learn to respect her laser rifle and no-nonsense attitude.[2] Anyone approaching with hostile intentions will learn even quicker that the rifle is not just for show, as Morgan takes their head off.[Non-game 1]

The easiest way to impress Morgan is to keep up with her. She is erudite and well-read, seeing Elder Lyons as Captain Ahab from Moby-Dick, in that his crusade against the super mutants will get him and others killed in the end;[3] any wastelander who catches her reference earns her grudging respect, or disdain, if they do not.[4] Morgan also enjoys black humor and wit,[5] but not overconfidence, considering it borderline suicidal.[6]

  • She and the other Outcasts will turn hostile if told to, "shut up and get that fucking gun out of my face" when spoken to for the first time.

Appearances[]

Anne Marie Morgan appears only in Fallout 3.

Behind the scenes[]

  • Unlike other Outcasts, she does not drop a finger if the Lawbringer perk is active. This is due to her Karma being marked as "Good."
  • Morgan makes a reference to Moby-Dick, by pejoratively naming Elder Lyons "Ahab" and comments on how he is "chasing his super mutant white whale."[3] Passing an Intelligence check causes her to be surprised, believing that the Outcasts possessed the only intact copy of Moby-Dick.[7]

Anne Marie Morgan: "Defender Anne Marie Morgan, with the Outcasts. But all you need to know is that I've got a gun and a low tolerance for screwing around."

  3. 3.0 3.1 The Lone Wanderer: "What have you got against the Brotherhood?"
Anne Marie Morgan: "You mean, apart from the fact that they ditched their mission and went native? Sure, I bet you don't mind them being cuddly with the locals, but when we came out here, we had a mission to do, damnit. But now they're wasting their time protecting yahoos like you, while Ahab Lyons is off chasing his Super Mutant white whale."

Anne Marie Morgan: "You know what? Never mind. Sheesh. Ignorant savages."

  5. The Lone Wanderer: "I'd hate if my corpse ruined this lovely Wasteland. It'd clash with the drapes."
Anne Marie Morgan: "Yeah, the red would never go with all this brown. But if we remodel and still need a corpse, we'll call you, 'kay? I'm Defender Anne Marie Morgan, with the Outcasts. Good to have someone else out here who can keep up."

  6. The Lone Wanderer: "Trust me, I don't plan to die anytime soon."
Anne Marie Morgan: "Yeah, that's what they all say. Usually just before stepping on a landmine. I'm Defender Anne Marie Morgan with the Outcasts. Steer clear of here, and you should be able to continue with that whole 'not dying' plan."
    (Anne Marie Morgan's dialogue)
  7. The Lone Wanderer: "[Intelligence] By that analogy, you think Lyons will be killed by the Super Mutants?"
Anne Marie Morgan: "Huh. And here I thought we had the only remaining copy of that... Anyway, I don't know if the old man's going to die from them, but he sure as hell looks like he's going to drag his soldiers down with him."

Currently on guard duty, Morgan is a tough, no-nonsense soldier with undying loyalty to her friend and Protector, Henry Casdin. She is growing ever more suspicious and exasperated by Elder Lyons’s decisions. She enjoys beheading Raiders using the latest in archaic laser technology."
