Anchorage was a city in the state of Alaska prior to the Great War.

Background[]

In the winter of 2066, Chinese forces invaded Anchorage, occupying the surrounding area and serving as a front line for the next decade.[1][2] On January 10, 2077, the United States won the Battle of Anchorage, pushing the Chinese forces back.[3][4] The 108th Infantry Battalion was stationed in Anchorage when several of its members, including Elliott Tercorien and Dawkins, were abducted by Zetan aliens.[5][6] There is a memorial located in Washington, D.C. commemorating the battle and the Museum of Freedom featured historical exhibits on the event.[7]

Notes[]

  • Liberty Prime mentions the city in its boot up sequence, stating "Designation: Liberty Prime. Mission: the liberation of Anchorage, Alaska."
  • The city is mentioned in the Fallout 76 intro, stating "from Antietam to Amiens, Okinawa to Anchorage, we have fought."[8]
  • Fallout Shelter The Fallout Shelter Legendary Husky description reads, "He served our troops in Anchorage. Now he proudly serves the Vault."

Appearances[]

Anchorage appears as part of the simulation in the Fallout 3 add-on Operation: Anchorage, but can only be seen from a distance. Anchorage is also mentioned in Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout 3 and its add-on Mothership Zeta, Fallout 4 and its add-on Automatron, Fallout 76, and Fallout Shelter. The city was set to appear in the cancelled Fallout Extreme.

Behind the scenes[]

  • Anchorage based on the real world city of the same name.
  • Anchorage was supposed to appear in Fallout Extreme, in the game's second chapter. The city was nothing but ruins by the events of the game. Little is known about the location, except that The Cause would have taken control of the city in their war against the Brotherhood of Steel.

  5. The Lone Wanderer: "Tell me how you were captured by these aliens."
Elliott Tercorien: "Well, it was getting dark... we had spent the day out in the trenches keeping as many of the guys alive as we could. Chinese had been pounding on us all day with artillery from these huge guns they had up on the mountains. It was really a mess. Anyway, we pitched our tents and stowed our gear to try and catch some shuteye. I woke up suddenly to Private Dawkins screaming... he was bathed in some kind of blue light coming from the sky. All of us just froze as he just... well... vanished. We didn't know what happened. Did the Chinese come up with some new weapon? Moments later, all of us were in the blue light too... the rest you know."

  6. The Lone Wanderer: "Can you tell me more about where you're from?"
Elliott Tercorien: "Me? Well, I was a medic with the 108th Infantry Battalion stationed at Anchorage, Alaska. I was with a squad of five other medics... our job was to patch everyone up after the Commies gunned them down. It was pretty bloody... nothing at all like I expected when I gave up my hospital job to enlist in the Army."
