The American Comics Code is only mentioned in Fallout 4.
Behind the scenesEdit
The American Comics Code is a reference to the real life Comics Code Authority, an organization that existed from 1954 to 2011 and functioned as a self-regulating body for comic publishers' content. Most distributors refused to carry content that did not meet Code approval. The CCA's focus on enforcing moral standards at the expense of storytelling potential hindered American comic books as a medium until it was significantly revised in 1971 and eventually abandoned in the 2010's. The Comics Code Authority's seal of approval is also similar in appearance to the American Comics Code's seal.
