A Wonderful Guy is a song in that plays on Galaxy News Radio.

BackgroundEdit

(I'm In Love With) A Wonderful Guy was written by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II for the 1949 musical South Pacific, along with other memorable songs such as "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair". Delicately approaching racial themes, it is generally considered to be one of the greatest musicals in history, and it (and its songs) have been re-performed many times. According to the Fallout 3 developers, the Galaxy News Radio version was performed (not sung!) by Tex Beneke in 1949.

In the original 1949 musical, Mary Martin was so inspired by this song that when she sang it on stage, she performed cartwheels at every turn of "I'm in love". This song was featured in the film City Hall, where it is sung by corrupt councilman Frank Anselmo (Danny Aiello).

LyricsEdit

I’m as corny as Kansas in August,
I’m as normal as blueberry pie.
No more a smart little girl with no heart,
I have found me a wonderful guy!

I am in a conventional dither,
With a conventional star in my eye.
And you will note there’s a lump in my throat
When I speak of that wonderful guy!

I’m as trite and as gay as a daisy in May,
A cliché comin’ true!
I’m bromidic[1] and bright
As a moon-happy night
Pourin’ light on the dew!

I’m as corny as Kansas in August,
High as a flag on the Fourth of July!
If you’ll excuse an expression I use,
I’m in love, I’m in love,
I’m in love, I’m in love,
I’m in love with a wonderful guy!

No more a smart little girl with no heart,
I have found me a wonderful guy!
I’m as trite and as gay as a daisy in May,
A cliché comin' true!
I’m bromidic and bright
As a moon-happy night
Pourin’ light on the dew!

I’m as corny as Kansas in August,
High as a flag on the Fourth of July!
If you’ll excuse an expression I use,
I’m in love, I’m in love,
I’m in love, I’m in love,
I’m in love with a wonderful guy!

  1. bromidic: lacking in originality; trite. From the word bromide, a sedative.
