14 Degrees East, or 14° East, was a division of game developer Interplay, operating as Interplay's strategy games department.

History

14° East was founded on March 3, 1999, as a division of Interplay, the originator of the Fallout series. Designed to handle upcoming titles in the strategy games genre, Interplay selected one of its own developers, Brian Christian, to head the division.

Christian, who had worked with Interplay since 1991, had been involved with the development of several games prior to this appointment, including the ill-fated videogame adaptation of Waterworld. Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel would be his last game produced at 14° East or Interplay; in 2002 he began work with SEGA of America and has not worked with Interplay since.

The last game released by 14° East was a compilation pack of Fallout games in 2002. According to developer Interplay, 14° East still exists as a business entity.
