The regiment was constituted on February 2, 1901 in the Regular Army as the 11th Cavalry Regiment, and was organized on March 11, 1901 at Fort Myer in Virginia. The 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment is known to have served in the Philippine-American War, Cuban Pacification, Mexican Expedition and World War II.
Before the Great War, the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment was charged in riot control operations in the Divide, alongside special riot control officiers, against the entire local hippie community that protested outside Hopeville against the ongoing Sino-American War. They rounded them up and transported them to the Big Mountain Research and Development Center as test subjects.

In Lonesome Road, the player can find some Advanced riot gear on an NCR riot control officer. It was used by the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment and the NCR riot control officers after the Great War, with the helmet bearing the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment symbol.
