[edit] Weapons using this ammunition
- Scoped .44 Magnum
- Lincoln's Repeater
- Blackhawk
- Mysterious Stranger's .44 Magnum (NOTE: Available only by using the console)
- Callahan's Magnum (only avaliable through Broken Steel)
- Paulson's Revolver (only avaliable through Mothership Zeta)
[edit] Description
The .44 Round, Magnum is the rarest Small Guns ammunition found in the game (other than BBs, even rarer than the .308 Caliber Round used by the Sniper Rifle). Very few enemies carry weapons that use this ammunition, and as such it is virtually never found on bodies and must be either purchased or looted from stockpiles, where it is still uncommon.
Players who intend to make use of weapons chambered for .44 Magnum rounds would be well-behooved to take the Scrounger perk as soon as it is available. With this perk, although .44 Magnum ammunition remains less common than 10mm or .32 caliber ammunition, significant caches can be found, drastically improving the usefulness of those powerful weapons.
A much easier way to get large amounts of .44 ammo is to download The Pitt DLC and use the Ammo Press after completing Free Labor.
[edit] Locations
- In Bethesda Ruins, in the west offices, go up the left staircase and in the door to the right, there are some .44 magnum rounds in the desk.
- Turtledove Detention Camp, In the Administration Office there are around 10 .44 magnum rounds next to a scoped magnum in the room to the right when you come in (Point Lookout).
- In the Engineering Core, next to Decompression Chamber, there are over 20 .44 magnum rounds under a work bench (Mothership Zeta).
- In the Cargo Hold, go along the conveyor belt until you see loads of ammo boxes, 2 of them should have .44 magnum rounds inside of them (Mothership Zeta).
[edit] Merchants
Several merchants will frequently have large quantities of .44 magnum ammo in stock (10, 15, even 20+):
- Chief Gustavo in Tenpenny Tower.
- Flak 'N Shrapnel's in Rivet City.
- Sydney after completion with her as a companion in the Stealing Independence quest.
- Lucky Harith, the Caravan Merchant dealing in weapons (after merchandise upgrades at Canterbury Commons).
- Smiling Jack in Evergreen Mills.
- Tulip in Underworld.
- Knight Captain Durga in Citadel
- Friday in The Pitt Downtown
- Moira Brown in Megaton
- Knick Knack in Little Lamplight
- Michael Masters in Tenpenny Towers after helping the ghouls move into the tower.
- Pronto in Paradise Falls, after bringing him 20 Chinese Assault Rifles.
[edit] Notes
In the Citadel, ammo is restored to the armory (within the lab, and conveniently next to a room with sleepable beds, just wait) every 3 days. If you simply sleep for (3) 24 hour periods .44 ammo can almost always be bought in decent to large quantities from the armory. This also works with any of the other arms supply shops in the game (This will work with all merchants).
In The Pitt after completing the main questline, you can make .44 magnum ammo using any type of conventional ammo or scrap metal, making this ammo much easier to get.
In combination of Operation: Anchorage and The Pitt you can use the ammo glitch in Anchorage and than use the simulation (Gary 23) glitch to gain an huge amount of ammunition. When you complete The Pitt and gain acces to the Ammo Press you can exchange the ammo again for the rare .44 rounds.
[edit] Fallout Tactics

[edit] Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel

It used by large caliber weapons and is very rare in Chapter 1 but rather abundant in Chapter 2.
